Notes

The Pantheon of Solethania is comprised of a variety of Deities and Demigods. They can and have directly interacted with the world throughout history as Avatars. The deities have a hierarchical structure, and each level of Deity draws its power from the ones beneath it. At the top are Life (Cxalla) and Death (Thaan), they are literal aspects of the universe and have no true discernible form other than the universe itself. Even in Avatar form, they cannot blend in with mortals. Beneath them are ten Major Gods. They are the Aspects which encompass the entirety of a Domain. They cannot show themselves on the material plane without the use of an Avatar as doing so would severely damage the world, however, they can blend in with mortals in their Avatar form should they so desire. Beneath the Major Gods, there are numerous Minor Gods and Demigods, and those do have forms that can be safely seen on the Material Plane, however they tend to hide their form in Avatars as well.

An Avatar has not been seen in over a century.

The Domains are aligned into Positive, Neutral, and Negative in terms of their Deity’s alliances and relationships. Positive Domains are Life, Light, Nature, Order. Neutral Domains are Arcana, Forge, Knowledge, Tempest. Negative Domains are Chaos, Death, Grave, and War.

Four Neutral, Four Positive, and Four Negative Domains lead to a strong balance in the Pantheon’s power dynamics.

Domains:

Arcana
Major Deity: Oeda
Symbol: A hawk headed wand surrounded by runes on an open scroll.

The goddess of Arcana takes the form of an adult woman with pure white skin. She is inhumanly tall and has an angular build. Her powder blue hair is worn in a braids that resemble runes. Her eyes are emerald green. She is usually portrayed as wearing a revealing uniform made from the skin of an ancient monster, and a locket around her neck. She carries a focus in the shape of a hawk, and she sometimes takes the form of a giant hawk that has the same colors as herself.

Chaos (Trickery)
Major Deity: Kaku
Symbol: Portrait of a cobra with glowing dice for eyes.

This artistic goddess of chaos takes the form of an older woman with dark skin and short grey hair. She is very short and angular. Her catlike eyes are grass-green. Her outfit is covered in triangle designs, and is often bardlike in her appearance.

Forge
Major Deity: Roadan
Symbol: A hollow grey circle entwined with purple silk with a golden bell in the center.

This cheerful god of the Forge and Commerce takes the form of an adult man with plum colored skin. He is inhumanly tall and has a wide-chested build, his has royal purple hair worn in a style that resembles a pennant blowing in the wind. His eyes are beige, and he is usually seen and portrayed as wearing a perfectly fitted suit of armor that is mostly grey in color, covered in concentric designs. His numerous and various ornaments are of the finest gold. He carries a bell.

Major Deity: Thaan
Symbol: A solid white infinity symbol on a black background with two white dots inside each circle.

Thaan’s Avatar is that of the void itself. He appears, and looks like a black hole in roughly the shape of a man, long rifts of void giving the silhouette longish hair. His eyes are twin suns. He has no apparent height, as he appears both average height and consuming the skies of those who see him.

Minor Deities and Demigods:

  • She is an Ultimate Deity. Other Negative Domains are her Domains, and their power is hers.

Grave
Major Deity: Ustus
Symbol: A flying raven with a cloak in one claw and a dart in the other.

This god of the Grave takes the form of a young man with a masculine build and raven colored hair that is worn in a style that resembles raven feathers. His eyes are like black pits. His skin looks as if it is made from darkness, and can envelop others in blackness. He is usually portrayed as wearing armor made from the bones of dead creatures. He carries a dart and sometimes takes the form of a shadow.

Knowledge
Major Deity: Oread
Symbol: A quill in an inkwell atop three books.

Oread takes the form of an elderly man, with an average height and an unassuming graceful build. He has Olive-Green eyes and neck-length red hair worn in a dignified style. He wears simple robes, and carries a scroll, quill, and inkwell.

Major Deity: Cxalla

Cxalla’s Avatar is light itself. She appears in roughly the shape of a woman, so bright that the sun itself seems dim, though her prismatic light does no harm unless she lets it. Her eyes are large specks of darkness. He has no apparent height, appearing both average height and consuming the skies of all who see her.

Light
Major Deity: Ura
Symbol: A column of light entering a lantern and dispersing different colors out the lantern’s stain glass panes.
This gentle god of Light takes the form of an older man, with hair of liquid dancing light. He is tall with a graceful build and deep bronze skin. His eyes glow with a literal inner light and his outfit is made from silk that is constantly shifting colors. He carries lantern and everything around him is always brightly lit. He sometimes takes the form of a column of white light that heals all it touches.

Major Deity: Farrin
Symbol: An Elk’s head framed in a circle of leaves.

This smart god of wildlife takes the form of a teenage boy. He is short and has a broad-shouldered build, with spiked brown hair worn in a style that resembles a porcupine quills. His round eyes are brown. He has forest green skin. He is usually portrayed wearing a simple leather tunic and pants. He carries a gnarled wooden staff, and often takes the form of a male elk.

Major Deity: Ylelia
Symbol: A volcano rising from the ocean like a dagger.

This goddess of Tempests takes the form of a young woman the scales of a fish, and hair of eternally crashing waves. She has a leggy build and is usually portrayed as wearing an sailor’s garb made from the skin of an ancient sea monster. She carries a shiv of liquid magma.

Major Deity: Eghrodro
Symbol: A balanced scale in front of two crossed swords.
This moral god of Order takes the form of a tall, light skinned, broad-shouldered, young man. His hair is wavy, short, and mauve. Eghrodro’s eyes are like crystal spheres. He is usually portrayed as wearing a fitted uniform. He carries a scale in one hand and a spear in the other.

Major Deity: Frath
Symbol: A fist closed around the hilt of a sword.

Frath appears as an adult man with blue eyes and athletic build. He has slate-grey skin, and narrow blue eyes. His armor is simple, but obsidian black with gold trim. His hair is that of fire itself. His greatsword is pale like bone, and glows with orange runes.
