Solethania Galactic

It is a dystopian future, in a galaxy far far away. Hundreds of spacefaring alien species exist and coexist. The galaxy is far too big for any single governing power to form, or even be considered. The only truly large scale governance happens under the heel of various Artificial Intelligences, and even their unimaginably great empires barely control single regions of galactic space.
It doesn’t matter if a system is controlled by corporations, federated governments, collectivist states, when the scales get as large as they do, the general populous becomes just another resource to be used, abused, and discarded, with the lives and welfare of individuals rendered irrelevant by those in power. The downtrodden do their best to rise above the tens of billions of others just like them, in any way they can, in the hopes of a better life. Many more simply accept their fate, and live their life in acceptance of their unfortunate lot.
What species you are has little to no bearing most of the time. Most races couldn’t even tell you what their original racial homeworld is or was. Who you are, your network of friends, enemies, and the factions and/or powers you have thrown in with are all vastly more important. And you have all of these, or you wouldn’t be here, doing the kind of jobs you do, living the kind of life you liveā¦
We’re going to try to use the Savage Worlds system, and I’m going to try to incorporate as much of the Stars Without Number system agnostic elements (like sector creation, the faction system, etc.) as I can. It’ll be a challenge, as I’ve never played Savage Worlds, nevermind GMed it. Neither have any of the players.
I’ve also never done a Sci-Fi setting before. And I’m angling for a science fantasy, with a cyberpunk aesthetic. Spaceships, magic, futuristic guns, aliens. Oppressive organizations and governments. Robots. Weird planets. It’ll be an experience to be sure.
