DC’s Dark Nights: Metal event is probably the most entertained I’ve been with comics in a very long time. Everything makes perfect sense for comic book logic, but it’s so balls to the wall weird, crazy, and outrageous in the best possible way. Weird metals, dark multiverses, a bunch of evil batmen that are analogous to the Justice League (they have their superpowers), a ton of super dark and gritty things but still spiced with levity and fun, a Plastic Man egg, and everything is a straight up love letter to the old school DC continuity. It is stuff like this why I read comic books in the first place, it just can’t happen in other mediums.

It’s such a wild ride and I’m totally on board.
